ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical features of malignant tumor-related pyogenic liver abscess (PLA), and to provide a basis for early judgment of disease progression and timely and effective treatment. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed for the clinical data of 371 patients with PLA who were admitted to the Second Affiliated of Air Force Medical University, from March 2005 to July 2018, among whom 34 patients with malignant tumor-related PLA were enrolled as tumor group, and after matching for time and at a ratio of 1∶2, 70 patients without malignant tumor-related PLA were enrolled as non-tumor group. Clinical features were compared between the two groups. The group t -test was used for comparison of normally distributed continuous data between groups, and the Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparison of non-normally distributed continuous data between groups; the chi-square test or the Fisher's exact test was used for comparison of categorical data between groups. Results In the tumor group, there were 22 patients with hepatobiliary tumor (64.7%), 7 patients with gastrointestinal tumor (20.6%), and 5 patients with non-gastrointestinal tumor (14.7%). Compared with the non-tumor group, the tumor group had a significantly higher proportion of patients with a history of abdominal surgery (44.1% vs 7.1%, χ 2 =20.142, P 16 (44.1% vs 15.7%, χ 2 =9.846, P =0.002). Compared with the non-tumor group in terms of laboratory examination, the tumor group had a significantly lower level of albumin [(27.2±5.2) g/L vs (30.8±2.6) g/L, t =-3.131, P =0.002] and a significantly higher level of total bilirubin [54(13~313) μmol/L vs 33(7~96) μmol/L, U =1 816.0, P < 0.001]. Escherichia coli was the main pathogen in the tumor group (23.5%), while Klebsiella pneumonia was the main pathogen in the non-tumor group (23.5%), and compared with the non-tumor group, the tumor group had a significantly higher proportion of patients infected with more than two types of bacteria (11.8% vs 2.8%). Radiological examination showed that the tumor group had a significantly higher proportion of patients with multiple abscesses than the non-tumor group (47.1% vs 24.3%, χ 2 =5.479, P =0.019). Compared with the non-tumor group, the tumor group had a significantly longer mean length of hospital stay ( U =1 728.5, P < 0.001) and a significantly higher treatment failure rate ( P =0.005). Conclusion Patients with malignant tumor-related PLA often have hepatobiliary tumor, with Escherichia coli as the main pathogen. Abscesses at multiple sites are common, and patients tend to have a poor prognosis. Appropriate antibiotics combined with percutaneous drainage should be used in clinical practice, and for the high-risk population, the threshold for surgical intervention can be lowered to reduce mortality.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#To investigate the clinical treatment outcomes and the changes of the outcomes over time in extremely preterm twins in Guangdong Province, China.@*METHODS@#A retrospective analysis was performed for 269 pairs of extremely preterm twins with a gestational age of <28 weeks who were admitted to the department of neonatology in 26 grade A tertiary hospitals in Guangdong Province from January 2008 to December 2017. According to the admission time, they were divided into two groups: 2008-2012 and 2013-2017. Besides, each pair of twins was divided into the heavier infant and the lighter infant subgroups according to birth weight. The perinatal data of mothers and hospitalization data of neonates were collected. The survival rate of twins and the incidence rate of complications were compared between the 2008-2012 and 2013-2017 groups.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the 2008-2012 group, the 2013-2017 group (both the heavier infant and lighter infant subgroups) had lower incidence rates of severe asphyxia and smaller head circumference at birth (P<0.05). The mortality rates of both of the twins, the heavier infant of the twins, and the lighter infant of the twins were lower in the 2013-2017 group compared with the 2008-2012 group (P<0.05). Compared with the 2008-2012 group, the 2013-2017 group (both the heavier infant and lighter infant subgroups) had lower incidence rates of pulmonary hemorrhage, patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), periventricular-intraventricular hemorrhage (P-IVH), and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS) and a higher incidence rate of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#There is a significant increase in the survival rate over time in extremely preterm twins with a gestational age of <28 weeks in the 26 grade A tertiary hospitals in Guangdong Province. The incidences of severe asphyxia, pulmonary hemorrhage, PDA, P-IVH, and NRDS decrease in both the heavier and lighter infants of the twins, but the incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia increases. With the improvement of diagnosis and treatment, the multidisciplinary collaboration between different fields of fetal medicine including prenatal diagnosis, obstetrics, and neonatology is needed in the future to jointly develop management strategies for twin pregnancy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the efficacy of switching to co-formulated elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (E/c/F/TAF) combined with sofosbuvir/velpatasvir (SOF/VEL) in the treatment of previously untreated chronic hepatitis C patients with HIV/HCV co-infection and the changes in blood lipid levels. Methods This prospective cohort study was conducted among 10 previously untreated chronic hepatitis C patients with HIV/HCV co-infection who attended Department of Infectious Diseases in Tangdu Hospital from July 2019 to May 2021 and achieved continuous HIV suppression after antiretroviral treatment (ART). As for anti-HIV therapy, the ART regimen was switched to the E/c/F/TAF regimen for 32 weeks, and for anti-HCV therapy, the SOF/VEL regimen was started since week 4 after switching and lasted for 12 weeks. Related indices were monitored before and after switching to E/c/F/TAF for anti-HCV therapy and SOF/VEL for anti-HCV therapy, including body weight, body mass index, HCV genotype, alpha-fetoprotein, liver stiffness measurement, CD4 + T cell count, CD4 + T/CD8 + T ratio, hepatic and renal function parameters, blood lipids, HIV RNA, HCV RNA, SVR12, SVR24, and adverse reactions. The Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparison of continuous data between two groups, and a Spearman correlation analysis was performed. Results After 4 weeks of treatment with E/c/F/TAF, 10 patients (HCV genotypes 2a and 1b) had HIV RNA below the lower limit of detection (20 IU/ml) and a significant reduction in albumin ( Z =-2.801, P =0.003 7), with the other indices remaining stable, and the patients reported significant improvements in the adverse events of anti-HIV therapy with the former ART regimen. After 4 weeks of E/c/F/TAF combined with SOF/VEL, the patients had HCV RNA below the lower limit of detection (15 IU/ml), and both SVR12 and SVR24 reached 100%; after 12 weeks of anti-HCV therapy, there were significant reductions in alanine aminotransferase ( Z =-2.732, P =0.004 8) and aspartate aminotransferase ( Z =-2.501, P =0.010 7) and significant increases in total cholesterol (TC) ( Z =-2.797, P =0.003 9) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) ( Z =-2.343, P =0.018 5), with a significantly positive correlation between them ( r =0.87, P < 0.001), and all the other indices were normal. Conclusion For previously untreated chronic hepatitis C patients with HIV/HCV co-infection, switching to E/c/F/TAF combined with SOF/VEL has good efficacy, tolerability, and safety, and the combination of the two regimens can avoid drug interaction, achieve a high HCV cure rate, and maintain HIV suppression. Transient increases in TC and LDL-C are observed during combination treatment, which suggests dyslipidemia caused by HCV infection and the pharmacological action of this regimen.

ABSTRACT

Genus Veratrum plants contain a diversity of steroidal alkaloids, so far at least 184 steroidal alkaloids attributed to cevanine type(A-1~A-69), veratramine type(B-1~B-21), jervanine type(C-1~C-31), solanidine type(D-1~D-10) and verazine type(E-1~E-53), respectively, have been isolated and identified in the genus Veratrum. Their pharmacological activities mainly focused on decreasing blood pressure, anti-platelet aggregation and anti-thrombosis, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, and antitumor effect. This paper classified and summarized the 184 kind of steroidal alkaloids from the Veratrum plants and their major pharmalogical activities in order to provide the scientific basis for the further development and utilization of active alkaloids.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical features of the two most common types of pyogenic liver abscess in clinical practice, Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess (KPLA) and Escherichia coli liver abscess (ECLA), and to provide a reference for early diagnosis and effective treatment. MethodsA retrospective analysis was performed for the clinical data of 371 patients with liver abscess who were admitted to The Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from March 2005 to July 2018, among whom 145 patients tested positive for pathogen. KPLA patients and ECLA patients were compared in terms of clinical features, laboratory examination, radiological examination, and prognosis. The t-test or the Mann-Whitney U test was used for comparison of continuous data between two groups, and the chi-square test or the Fisher’s exact test was used for comparison of categorical data between two groups. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine the influencing factors for prognosis. ResultsAmong the 145 patients that tested positive for pathogen, 66 tested positive for Klebsiella pneumonia and 42 tested positive for Escherichia coli. Compared with the KPLA patients, the ECLA patients tended to have an older age (t=-2.25, P=0.027), biliary diseases (χ2=10.019, P=0.002), a history of abdominal surgery (χ2=27.481, P<0.001), tumor (χ2=17.745, P<0.001), and a significantly higher proportion of individuals with recurrent liver abscess (χ2=13745, P<0.001). KPLA was often observed in patients with diabetes (χ2=17.505, P<0.001). As for laboratory examination, compared with the KPLA patients, the ECLA patients had a significant increase in total bilirubin (U=880.000, P=0.001) and significant reductions in albumin (t=-2.625, P=0.010) and platelet count (U=1719.000, P=0.036). Radiological examination showed that there was a higher proportion of patients with multiple liver abscess in ECLA (χ2=23.372, P<0.001), while KPLA often had an abscess diameter of >5 cm (χ2=7.637, P=0.006). As for complications, the ECLA patients were more likely to develop pulmonary infection (χ2=18857, P<0.001) and emphysema (P=0.013). ECLA patients were more likely to have multidrug-resistant organisms, and most patients were treated with antibiotics combined with ultrasound-guided percutaneous drainage in both groups. The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation Ⅱ score on admission (odds ratio=0.049, 95% confidence interval: 0.026-0.266, P<0.001) was an influencing factor for prognosis. ConclusionECLA is commonly seen in elderly patients with biliary diseases, with easy recurrence, multiple abscesses on radiological examination, and a high proportion of pulmonary infection and emphysema. There is a high positive rate of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases produced by ECLA, and therefore, antibiotics should be used reasonably in the early stage.

OBJECTIVE@#To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of anterior decompression and posterior decompression in the treatment of thoracolumbar fractures with spinal cord injury, so as to provide a good scientific basis for more effective treatment of thoracolumbar fractures with spinal cord injury.@*METHODS@#A clinical data about comparative study of anterior decompression and posterior decompression in the treatment of thoracolumbar fractures with spinal cord injury was searched and collected. The databases of Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CNKI, CBM, Wanfang Medical Network were searched by computer. Artificially collected journals included Spine, European Spine Journal, The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. Two spine surgeons independently screened the literature according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria and assessed the quality of the included studies. Meta-analysis was performed on the data using Review Manager 5.3 software, the indicators included operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative tactile score, postoperative motor score, postoperative vertebral height, hospitalization time, neurological function recovery, efficiency of treatment, postoperative complications.@*RESULTS@#Fifteen randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were enrolled in a total of 1 360 patients, including 680 anterior decompression and 680 posterior decompression. The results of Meta-analysis showed that the anterior decompression group had longer operation time [MD=80.09, 95% CI(36.83, 123.34), P=0.000 3], more intraoperative blood loss [MD=225.21, 95%CI(171.07, 279.35), <0.000 01], longer hospitalization time [MD=2.31, 95% CI(0.32, 4.31), P=0.02]. And the postoperative tactile score [MD=13.39, 95% CI(9.86, 16.92), <0.000 01], postoperative motor score [MD=13.15, 95% CI(7.02, 19.29), <0.000 1], vertebral height [MD=1.36, 95% CI(0.79, 1.92), <0.000 01] in anterior decompression were higher than that in posterior decompression. There was no statistically significant differences in the efficacy of treatment [OR=1.14, 95% CI(0.56, 2.31), P=0.72], neurological recovery [OR=0.87, 95% CI(0.57, 1.33), P=0.52] between two groups.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Compared with posterior decompression, the anterior decompression has the advantages of longer operating time, more intraoperative blood loss, longer hospitalization time, higher postoperative tactile score, higher postoperative motor score, and higher injury vertebral height, But there was no significant difference in the treatment efficiency and nerve function recovery between two groups.

We compared the RT-LAMP,LAMP and L-J for detecting MTB to provide the rapid diagnosis method for tu-berculosis.In this assay,NTM and other common respiratory bacteria were used to detect specificity,Mycobacterium tubercu-losis specific products were identified by restriction enzyme digestion.To detect sensitivity,we used RT-LAMP,LAMP and L-J to detect 100 cases sputum specimens from patients with tuberculosis and 22 cases control sputum specimens,the 10 times dilution of 1 ng/μL H37Rv standard strains was used to detect RT-LAMP limit.The results showed that the positive rate of RT-LAMP,LAMP and L-J were 100%,92%,88%.RT-LAMP and L-J,RT-LAMP and LAMP were statistically signifi-cant,RT-LAMP had 10 times higher sensitivity than LAMP,RT-LAMP not only to identify viable but also capable of detec-ting a single copy of MTB.So RT-LAMP is superior to LAMP and L-J and is practical for use in primary medical care institu-tion or peripheral laboratory.

ABSTRACT

The whole process quality control and management of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction pieces is a system engineering, involving the base environment, seeds and seedlings, harvesting, processing and other multiple steps, so the accurate identification of factors in TCM production process that may induce the quality risk, as well as reasonable quality control measures are very important. At present, the concept of quality risk is mainly concentrated in the aspects of management and regulations, etc. There is no comprehensive analysis on possible risks in the quality control process of TCM decoction pieces, or analysis summary of effective quality control schemes. A whole process quality control and management system for TCM decoction pieces based on TCM quality tree was proposed in this study. This system effectively combined the process analysis method of TCM quality tree with the quality risk management, and can help managers to make real-time decisions while realizing the whole process quality control of TCM. By providing personalized web interface, this system can realize user-oriented information feedback, and was convenient for users to predict, evaluate and control the quality of TCM. In the application process, the whole process quality control and management system of the TCM decoction pieces can identify the related quality factors such as base environment, cultivation and pieces processing, extend and modify the existing scientific workflow according to their own production conditions, and provide different enterprises with their own quality systems, to achieve the personalized service. As a new quality management model, this paper can provide reference for improving the quality of Chinese medicine production and quality standardization.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the effect of patchouli alcohol on inhibiting Helicobater pylori urease activity, and its effect on expression levels of related genes, and lay the foundation for further research on the effect of patchouli alcohol on H. pylori colonization and infection. H. pyloriwas cultured and identified by gram staining, rapid urease test (RUT) and PCR method. Then agar dilution method was used to detect the bacterial survival after 1 h intervention by different concentrations of patchouli alcoholin the acidic (pH 5.3) and neutral (pH 7.0) conditions; berthelot method was used to detect urease activity and RT-qPCR method was used to detect the expression changes of ureA, ureB, ureE, ureH, ureI, and nixA related urease genes. The results showed that the survival rate of H. pyloriwas not significantly changed but the urease activity was obviously decreased after intervention by different concentrations of patchouli alcohol; meanwhile, the expression levels of ureA, ureB, ureE, ureH, ureI, and nixA were decreased to different degrees. Therefore, patchouli alcohol could inhibit H. pylori urease activity in both acidic and neutral conditions, and the mechanism may be related to down-regulation of urease gene expression.

ABSTRACT

Dampness evil is the source of all diseases, which is easy to cause disease and promote aging, while aging could also promote the occurence and development of diseases. In this paper, the relationship between the dampness evil and aging would be discussed, to find the anti-aging active ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and analyze the anti-aging mechanism of dampness eliminating drug. Molecular docking technology was used, with aging-related mammalian target of rapamycin as the docking receptors, and chemical components of Fuling, Sangzhi, Mugua, Yiyiren and Houpo as the docking molecules, to preliminarily screen the anti-aging active ingredients in dampness eliminating drug. Through the comparison with active drugs already on the market (temsirolimus and everolimus), 12 kinds of potential anti-aging active ingredients were found, but their drug gability still needs further study. The docking results showed that various components in the dampness eliminating drug can play anti-aging activities by acting on mammalian target of rapamycin. This result provides a new thought and direction for the method of delaying aging by eliminating dampness.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To compare the efficacy of telbivudine monotherapy and telbivudine combination therapy with adefovir in patients with nucleos(t)ide-naive chronic hepatitis B, high-level hepatitis B virus (HBV) load and hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positivity, and to explore the relationship between treatment regimen adherence and treatment outcomes.</p><p><b>METODS</b>A retrospective study was performed with 123 HBeAg-positive, high-level viral load (HBV DNA≥10(7) copies/ml), nucleos(t)ide-naive chronic hepatitis B patients. Fifty-three of the patients received combination therapy with telbivudine and adefovir dipivoxil,while 70 patients received the telbivudine monotherapy. All patients were tested for rates of conversion to HBV DNA-negative status,alanine aminotransferase (ALT) normalization, HBeAg seroconversion, drug resistance, and side effects at treatment weeks 12, 24, and 48. Treatment regimen adherence was assessed through self-reporting, and interviews were used to explore the relationships to treatment outcomes. The chisquare test, t test and Fisher's exact test were used for statistical analyses.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The rates of HBV DNA negative conversion in the combination group at treatment weeks 12, 24 and 48 were 62.3% (33/53), 88.7% (47/53) and 94.3% (50/53) and were significantly different from those in the monotherapy group at weeks 12 and 24.The rates of ALT normalization were significantly different between the two groups at treatment week 12 (94.3% vs. 77.1%). The rate of HBeAg seroconversion in the combination group at treatment week 48 was 39.6%, and significantly different than that of the monotherapy group. The rates of drug-resistance in the combination and monotherapy groups at treatment week 48 were 3.8% and 11.4%, and the proportion of non-adherence to the treatment regimen was 53.3%, which significantly affected treatment outcome. No side effects occurred in either treatment group.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Telbivudine combination treatment with adefovir was more effective than telbivudine monotherapy and elicited a low drug resistance rate in nucleos(t)idenaive chronic hepatitis B patients with high-level HBV load and HBeAg-positivity. Adherence to the therapy regimen was a key factor influencing treatment outcomes.</p>

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:Toxic effects of excessive thyroid hormone on myocardium can not be ignored with the increased incidence of hyperthyroidism. As a quantitative marker of heart failure, brain natriuretic peptide has a good application prospect to estimate the changes of cardiac function and myocardial damage in hyperthyroid cardiomyopathy. OBJECTIVE:To explore the correlation of brain natriuretic peptide and cardiac function of rabbits with hyperthyroid cardiomyopathy exhibiting different left ventricular geometries. METHODS:Twenty New Zealand purebred rabbits were used in this study. Hyperthyroidism model was established by intraperitoneal injection of levothyroxine (45 μg/kg) for 4 weeks. The success of establishing model is defined upon the appearance of irritation, decreased body weight and increased appetite. Totaly 18 rats were successfuly established. The left ventricular data of hyperthyroidism rabbits were measured by conventional echocardiography. According to the classification of Ganauet al, the 18 hyperthyroidism rabbits were divided into two groups: concentric hypertrophy (n=7) and eccentric hypertrophy (n=11). In addition, ten rats, receiving intraperitoneal injection of 5 mL saline per day, were taken as the control group. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Plasma brain natriuretic peptide level of rabbits in the concentric hypertrophy and eccentric hypertrophy groups was obviously higher than that of the control group (alP < 0.01), and the level in the eccentric hypertrophy group was obviously higher than in the concentric hypertrophy group (P< 0.01). Compared with the control group, the average peak diastolic velocity of mitral ring was significantly lower in the concentric hypertrophy and eccentric hypertrophy groups (alP< 0.01), the average peak systolic velocity of mitral ring was also lower in the eccentric hypertrophy group (P < 0.01). The peak systolic and diastolic velocity had a negative correlation with brain natriuretic peptide (alP < 0.01). Experimental findings indicate that brain natriuretic peptide is a sensitive indicator to reflect the cardiac function and myocardial damage in rabbits with hyperthyroid cardiomyopathy, exhibiting different left ventricular geomeies.

Methodology: Multiply-primed rolling-circle amplification (MPRCA), a useful molecular tool, was performed to amplify genome sequence of TTSuV and PCV2. For serum sample of SH0822 from a clinical case with PMWS, the products of MPRCA were digested using EcoR I, Xba I, Sma I, Sac I, respectively. Moreover, Clustal W program (DNASTAR software) and MEGA 5.1 software (neighbour-joining method) was used to analysis its nucleotide homology and genetic relationship. Results: Restriction digestion analysis showed one TTSuV genome-size fragment was presented in 1.2 % agarose gel, moreover, another PCV2 genome-size fragment was also presented. Nucleotide sequencing and phylogenetic analysis results suggested that its complete genome were 2823-nucleotide size and 1767-nucleotide size and they were divided into species TTSuV1b and genotype PCV2b, respectively. Conclusion: Concurrent infection of TTSuV and PCV2 in a clinical case with PMWS was identified using MPRCA combining with restriction endonuclease digestion, which indicated that MPRCA was an effective tool to attain simultaneous detection and genome amplification of TTSuV and PCV2.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:In order to optimize the biological activity of hydroxyapatite, previous experiments have used plasma spraying technique to prepare a piezoelectric ceramic coating on the surface of hydroxyapatite, but the cytotoxicity of this new material is not clear. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the cytotoxicity of hydroxyapatite/barium titanate biological piezoelectric ceramic coatingin vitro. METHODS: The 3rd generation beagle bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels were seeded on hydroxyapatite/barium titanate piezoelectric ceramic specimens and hydroxyapatite specimens, respectively. After 5 days, the celladhesion was detected by scanning electron microscopy. The 3rd generation bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels were also co-cultured with hydroxyapatite/barium titanate piezoelectric ceramic specimen extract, hydroxyapatite specimen extract, low-glucose Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium containing 5% dimethylsulfoxide and 15% fetal bovine serum, and low-glucose Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium containing 15% fetal bovine serum, respectively. The cytotoxicity was tested by cellCounting Kit-8 assay at days 1, 3, 5 after co-culture. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels on the surface of hydroxyapatite/barium titanate piezoelectric ceramic specimens and hydroxyapatite specimens grew proliferatively and presented with multi-layer growth. The connection between cels and pseudopodia was very close, which indicates that the two kinds of materials both have good cytocompatibility. cellCounting Kit-8 assay showed that the cels cultured in the extracts of hydroxyapatite/barium titanate biological piezoelectric ceramic and hydroxyapatite specimens proliferated more than 80%, and the toxicity was grade 1 that meant no cytotoxicity.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the influences in perioperative variations in serum levels of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA in patients with HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC),and to observe the differences in postoperative recovery of liver function between the antiviral treatment group and the non-antiviral treatment group of patients.Methods From Feb.2012 to Nov.2012,55 patients whose preoperative serum levels of HBV DNA were below the recommended level of antiviral treatment were included into the study.The serum levels of HBV DNA,IL-6,IL-10 and IL-27 preoperatively and on postoperative day 3 were measured.Using the postoperative serum levels of HBV DNA,the patients were divided into 2 groups:the high level group and low level group.Patients in the high level group received antiviral treatment,but the low level group did not.The changes in preoperative and postoperative liver function and other data of the patients were recorded and analyzed by the SPSS 13.0 software.Results (1) The reactivation rate of serum HBV DNA in the HBsAg-positive HCC patients was 45% (25/55).In patients with a preoperative HBV DNA level < 1 × 104 IU/ml the postoperative HBV reactivation rate was up to 76% (19/25).(2) Logistic regression analysis showed tumor diameter (P=0.037,0.006) and injecting anhydrous alcohol into the resection margin (P=0.004) were independent risk factors of postoperative HBV reactivation.(3) Postoperative serum IL-10 elevation was associated with HBV reactivation (P=0.001).On the contrary,serum IL-6 level elevation was associated with HBV reactivation (P<0.01).(4) When compared with the low level group,postoperative serum alanine aminotransferase,total bilirubin and albumin in the high level group showed no significant difference (P>0.05).Conclusions Hepatectomy could reactivate HBV replication during the perioperative period.A close monitoring of HBV DNA during the perioperative period was necessary,especially in patients with low HBV DNA levels.The tumor diameter and injecting anhydrous alcohol into the resection margin were independent risk factors of postoperative increase in HBV DNA.Changes in serum IL-10 and IL-6 levels after hepatic resection might be related to the elevation of HBV DNA level.In addition,reactivation of HBV did not aggravate damages in postoperative liver function.Antiviral treatment did not promote recovery of liver function in the early stage.

Porcine bocavirus (PBoV) was considered as a new member of the genus Bocavirus of the subfamily Parvovirinae of the family Parvoviridae, which was discovered in Swedish swine herds with postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) in 2009. At present, as an emerging pathogen, it was paid great attention by researchers at home and abroad. This paper referred to some published literatures and reviewed several aspects of PBoV including its finding, classification, genome structure and replication, epidemiology, associativity with diseases, cultural and diagnostic methods.

Objective To explore the physical and mental health status on the ‘left behind ’ students in Anhui province and the related influential factors.Methods Stratified cluster sampling method was used to investigate the 682 out of 3421 students from 7 middle schools in both south and north Anhui province,using multidimensional sub-health questionnaire of adolescents (MSQA) and mental health test (MHT),for assessment of the general condition,physical and mental health status.Results 14.22% of the ‘left behind’ students were in sub-health condition compared to 11.28% among the normal students,and the mental sub-health status represented 13.64% for the former and 10.84% for the latter.In addition,the ‘left behind’ students appeared less content with their life than those of staying with their parents (P<0.05).MHT scores in the subjects were positively correlated with the scores on MSQA and showed significant difference (P<0.01).Results from the multiple linear regression analysis showed that the mental health condition among the left behind students was in linear regression relationship with the decreased physical activity (β =1.456,P=0.001 ),emotional problems (β =1.096,P=0.000 ) and problems of social adaptation (β=1.011,P=0.006).The status of physical sub-health in the Anhui province showed that there was no significant difference in each of the study group (P>0.05).Conclusion Decreased physical activity and emotion aporia as well as difficult social adaptation were major factors leading to degenerated mental health levels in the‘left-behind’ adolescents.The findings suggested that the mental health status could be improved inthis population through better management on their body-health condition.

Objective By exploring the mental health situation of the unattended adolescents in Anhui province. This study aimed at investigating the status of mental health and related influential factors to provide evidence for effective strategies and intervention in physical and mental health improvement of this population. Methods By using stratified cluster sampling method, we conducted an investigation on 3421 subjects,in which 682 were unattended adolescents,from 7 middle schools in both south and north parts of Anhui province. MHT was used to assess the general condition and status of mental health in the adolescents. Results In the population aged 10 to 18 in Anhui province,19.94% of them were unattended adolescents and were found with poor mental health and more prone to loneliness, sensitive and stronger fear as compared with those with parents around, which showed statistical difference (P<0.05). As for the mental health status of unattended adolescents in different family types, the subjects seemed worse in the north than in the south Anhui regarding the total scores of MHT, self-accusation, physical symptoms and phobic anxiety disorder (P<0.05). Girl students were also inferior to boys concerning the total scores of MHT, learning anxiety, interpersonal anxiety, self-accusation, sensitivity, physical symptoms and impulsive behavior (P<0.05). The students in Grade 7 scored lower than those of the upperclassmen on MHT (P<0.05), and the subjects from township were superior to those of rural areas regarding interpersonal anxiety and loneliness (P<0.05). Children with siblings appeared worse than their counterparts on the total scores of MHT, including the items of interpersonal anxiety, learning anxiety, self-accusation, sensitivity,physical symptoms, strong fear and impulsive behavior (P<0.05). Conclusion Generally, the mental health status of unattended adolescents in Anhui province appeared poorer than their counterparts, and relatively worse psychological status was seen in girls, high school students,children with siblings and subjects living in north Anhui or rural areas.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To identify predictors of treatment retention problems at the two initial methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) clinics in Guangdong province, and to provide reference in reducing the rate of drop-outs.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>All of the patients were investigated at baseline and followed during the treatment period. Kaplan-Meier method on Survival Analysis was used to analyze retention related factors and predictors.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>509 subjects were recruited in this study with median of retention time as 108 days (95%CI: 74 - 142 days). The retention rate at 1-, 3-, 6-, 12-months were 75.9%, 52.7%, 41.6%, 30.1%, respectively. Data from Multivariate Cox Proportional Hazard Model analysis showed predictors of retention would involve factors as HIV infection state at baseline (HR = 1.241, P = 0.047), daily methadone dose (HR = 0.633, P = 0.004) and secretly using drugs during treatment period (HR = 5.345, P = 0.000).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The retention rates at the two initial MMT clinics in Guangdong province were low. Patients who were HIV negative at baseline but still secretly using heroine during treatment or accepted low daily average dosage of methadone, had the tendency to drop out. The results implied that retention time could be prolonged by increasing daily methadone dosage.</p>
